Belief In Conspiracy Theories

Twin Towers

Being from Middle America, I always enjoy a good conversation about conspiracy theories when my wife and I are out at a party or dinner with friends. As a matter of fact, I am usually the one starting the conversations.

There are so many diverse thoughts in America and throughout the world as far as the true meaning behind some of these conspiracies. With the growth and expansion of the Internet, the people of the world have initiated a quest for truth.

For example, many people think the world is going to end in 2012 because the Mayan Calender has predicted it. I’m not much of a believer in the end of the world theory.

Others believe in UFO’s and aliens. I’m still out to lunch on this one because most of the evidence seems to be forged or photo tricks. I will say that it may be a little naive for us to think that humans are the only race to exist in such a large galaxy of space.

However, there are certain conspiracy theories I do believe may have some validity and I think it would be dangerous for us to not look further into some of the statements.

I’m talking about such events as 9/11 and many of the other terror related incidents that have taken place over the course of the last 20 years or so.

When I look at all the evidence related to the events that took place on 9/11, I can’t help but feel there has been some sort of cover up by my own American Government. It seems to me that the powers that be were looking for a way to start a war and this just may have been an ideal way to rally the people.

There is also the insurance policy purchased by the Silverstein Group who held the lease for the twin towers. The policy, believe it or not, covered acts of terrorism and they were paid something like 7 billion dollars. The miraculous thing about it is that they were only awarded the lease in April of 2001 that same year.

And people wonder why conspiracy theories are so well taken by the public?

Sometimes, all we have to do to figure out why something happens is to follow the money trail. It’s very disheartening to know that 3,000 people may have died just because some very wealthy people wanted to become more wealthy. It’s even more disheartening to know that some of my own countrymen may have grossly misused their authority to commit acts of treason against the American people and other people of the world.

Regardless of whether you are a believer in conspiracy theories or not, I would consider it foolish or just plain stupid to not at least consider the possibilities in some of the cases.
